I Looked at Auckland Library Bebo site and watched the virtual pet and dress the dolls and other info and also looked at My Space I did not create an accoun t on Face Book - I do my own social net working in a small way in The Find a Friend Site to find old school friends and old work mates - I am not interested in publishing my thoughts or interests to strangers and have a distrust of some of these Net working sites as can you be recognised or your family and what may the repercussions be - I would certainly not be publishing photos of my family or grandchildren as was suggested by a staff member.
I also looked at the Bebo site on Google - and felt again how sad that kids have one of those pets to sit and watch on a computer as when I was a kid growing up I had the real things outside in the fresh air with acres of land to run around on - my own pony, lamb, calf, dog and 50 cows to keep me happy in the need for an animal friend.

Away from Icebergs
I think the future of libraries is going to change so much in the future with technology - are there going to be ANY books as we know them now for people to borrow - is everybody going to have to run their whole life around a computer? - what will actually happen to people who now are asking that they like to just sit and read a book and do not own a computer or are not interested in having one. Will the future by so impersonal that everything will be done on line and from ones home and there will not be the human contact that a lot of people that visit the library now are looking for when they come into BORROW a book and have a chat to the staff.
Technorati
I followed the instructions and found them very confusing to get into where all this information is stored and gathered up from all different sources.
I think it is just as easy to go to one site like the NZ Herald of TV One news site and get the information I am looking for - too much info is just confusing and muddles the issues.

Tagging and discover Del.icio.us
I found this incredibly time wasting and I would not have enough different sites in my life ( which makes my life very boring I know ) but I seem to have managed to run my affairs and keep my finances together for the 67 years of my life and I truly believe in the saying KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.;
Adding an entry to the 2.0 Sandbox wiki
I have entered my shows into favourites and added to my wiki.
I found it easy to type this into the document and I guess if some one is really interested in what I watch on tv there it is.

Anything technology related
I went right around the world last year on my big OE and carried my dinosaur camera where I wind the film on and I got the most amazing photos and memories of my trip and they are all in my album named and ready to be looked at any time I want - not on a memory stick somehwere in a drawer waiting to be developed.
I do however enjoy being able to book my own air fares on line and check on things that interest me in the world and in the news.

Wiki wiki
I have already read the wiki of Public Libray of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County and I think the idea of a Wiki on a subject is good in lots of ways because all different people from all walks of life can put their opinions and add their knowledge to it thus helping others.

#10 Week 4- Have some Flickr fun
I went into Flickr Color Pickr and this was the best so far picking the beautiful flowers especially the Pink ones and moving the colour brighter and fainter was pretty awesome. To do this I selected flowers and from the colour wheel I selected pink of course and because it is my favourite colour and clicked on the colour wheel to brighten or darken the flowers. To click on the link to see this http://www.krazydad.com/colrpickr/
9 Week 4-Explore Flickr and learn about this popular image hosting site
I went in to Flickr and put in the user name for the site Manukaulearn@yahoo.com and put the pass word given and there lo and behold I found Manukau City Centre team and my buddy Shanta along with other photos of various different libraries around the city.Heres the link to the photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/newweb2/2752130783/
8- Rollyo
I went into Rollyo and created a search roll these are some of my examples ;
Qantas Frequent Flyer
Super Trust
I found that this is only repeating what I do every time I want to find something out for myself or my own information I can do this very same thing very quickly and effectively using Google and not having to go through other avenues. Look to the right hand side of my Blog to see my Search roll.

7- Library thing
I went into library thing and added 5 books to my library - they were two of Jodi Picoult one of my favourite authors because of the twist she has at the end of most of her stories and keeps one guessing right up to the end and the other two were by Wilbur Smith another of my favourite
authors because a lot of his books are written about S Africa one country I have a lot of interest in and the 5th book was surprise surprise The Lonely Planet on South Africa.
I found the Library Thing layout was very attractive and friendly. Look on the right hand side of my blog and you will see the books in my library.

About RSS feeds and setting up a Bloglines account
My blogroll will be accessible at: http://www.bloglines.com/public/nance.hayes2@gmail.com
I am still adding to my site and my instructor informs me that learning all this blogging is much more fun than finishing my knitting for my daughter and grandchildren - at this point in time I am not convinced but I guess I have to stick with it because as they say if you dont learn it you get left in the dust.
